San Francisco, USA – July 6, 2011– The Nuclear Information and Records Management Association (NIRMA), a non-profit corporation comprised of nuclear energy and information management executives and experts, will hold its 35th-annual Nuclear Information Management Conference on August 14-17, 2011, at the JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada. Befitting a conference whose title is “Forging Excellence in the New Era Across the Globe,” presenters from such companies as PG&E, Ameren, Xcel Energy, and EMC, and from such organizations as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the Association of Information and Image Management (AIIM), will discuss records management, document control, regulatory compliance, Cloud information management, cyber security, e-discovery, Sharepoint, and plant construction and decommissioning in a total of 38 planned sessions.

NIMRA’s yearly NIMC conference has always been a highly-attended and highly-regarded event among nuclear energy and information technology professionals due to the quality and prestige of the presenters, networking and business opportunities, its agreeable location (Summerlin, NV, is a 100,000-population planned community and a 15-minute drive from the Vegas Strip), and Certified Records Manager and Nuclear Specialist exams tutorials. This year’s conference will be especially interesting, however, as a result of dramatic developments in both the nuclear and IT industries, namely the Fukushima disaster and recent flooding and wildfire threats to American nuclear plants and facilities on one hand, and the increasing popularity and improved technology of Cloud computing on the other.

NIRMA, on its website nirma.org, states as its purpose to “provide guidance to commercial and [U.S.] Department of Energy (DOE) facilities in the areas of quality records programs, regulatory compliance activities, electronic records initiatives, document management technologies, and knowledge management issues.” Its six declared functions are to 1) develop nuclear industry information management standards; 2) analyze the issue of long-term record management in relation to decommissioning and radioactive waste management; collaborating with the 3) NRC and 4) other organizations such as AIIM and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) on these and other information management matters; and to provide 5) education and training and 6) professional certifications in its areas of expertise. Its board of directors includes executives and experts from Entergy, Xcel Energy, Ameren, and NARA.

CTSpace, a global leader in providing document management and collaboration workflow applications to the construction and engineering industries, is a sponsor of the NIC and will exhibit and present at the conference. Its presentation, “Tips and Technologies for Automating the PDF Rendition Process” (Session #27), will provide attendees with practical and easy-to-emulate tips for automating their document-centric business processes that will reduce errors, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance. CTSpace’s VP of Products Tim Fleet will conduct the presentation in conjunction with Rupin Mago of Adlib Software, an enterprise content transformation solutions company, at 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Thursday, August 16.

Attendees are also invited to check out Session #16 on Monday, August 15 at 1:30-2:30 p.m., a presentation titled “Enterprise Deployment—Engineering Drawing and Document Management.” In it, Ronald Siena of Miria Systems will describe how his company assisted Pepco Holdings in reducing content redundancy and consolidating enterprise data partly by using CTSpace’s FusionEnterprise for FileNet P8 solution, an enterprise-scalable engineering content management application.

Anyone that would like to attend NIMC 2011 can do so by registering at nirma.org or by contacting NIRMA Executive Director Jane Hannum at nirma@nirma.orgor (603) 332-6476.
